PANDEM-2 PLENARY MEETING: MAY
The first PANDEM-2 Plenary meeting took place on May 6th 2021. Attendees reflected on the first three months of the project and discussed the next steps for development. PANDEM-2 is a H2020 EU-funded project that aims to develop new solutions for efficient, EU-wide pandemic management. The goal of PANDEM-2 is to prepare Europe for future pandemics through innovations in training and to build capacity between EU member states responding to pandemics on a cross-border basis. The Plenary meeting was held remotely due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting involved all members of the project’s consortium including partners and end-users who each presented their work, achievements and plans for the coming months. Beginning with an introductory welcome from project coordinator Prof. Máire Connolly, this was followed by in-depth presentations from each partner on their progress within specific tasks and publications to date. The meeting ended with an open forum discussion and outlined a clear path with the action points for moving forward.
The PANDEM-2 project began in February and will be implemented over 24 months. The objectives of the project will be achieved through the development of new innovative solutions; including pandemic simulation, resource allocation and predictive modelling tools which will better prepare pandemic managers to improve their situational awareness and train for potential outbreaks.
